Farewell

MY OWN SUPER LEARNING Sadly, this is my last post. A farewell post😭 Since I was a child, I have always had contact with technology. My father is a computer scientist and he used to bring us many new things every day to test them. As a child I loved technology, spending a lot of my time with the computer and videogames, however when I reached adolescence I started to disengage from this topic, using only the mobile phone as a technological device.. Nevertheless, on social networks like Instagram and Twitter I followed many teachers who highlighted the importance of the integration and use of technology in the classroom.  During my degree I had a computer science course, I learned several things but the applications we used to create the resources were very old so they did not contribute much to my future as a teacher When I decided to enroll myself in this master´s degree and I took a look at the subjects that made it up, I was very surprised to see that there was a subject related to

THE SPANISH IMPERIALISM II This is the second part of my last entry. As I have told you before, students are dealing with one of the most dificult topics of Social Sciences. One of the posibilites is the use of Storyboard to make our students aware of the main info about The Spanish Imperialism, but what could be better than recording a video acting as kings? THAT´S WHAT WE DID. This task took us a lot of time, but it was so rewarded. Students loved watching their teachers acting as a professional actors in a film.  To record this video we used: -a king´s costume -a green cloth The most difficult part of the video was the step of creating the chroma. To do this we used Filmora app. You can download it from Internet although you have to pay for use some of the tools. That was our case, but finally we got an incredible result.  We as a teacher had fun recording it.  We hope you enjoy it a lot. If you have any doubt about the use of the app, do not hesistate to contact me. THANK YOU!

STORYBOARD

THE SPANISH IMPERIALISM I Good afternoon!  Here is a new entry to my blog  This time I will show you a new storyboard created for our History class. During this month we will be dealing with a new topic: The Spanish Imperialism. This is known to be a really hard topic for the students, so my mates and I have decided to create resources in order to help our students. First of all, we have created a comic using Storyboard. This comic is a summary with the most important information regarding the topic.  The main objectives of this comic is:  -to know  some important facts about the reigns of Charles I, Philip II and Philip IV.  (BOCM) This objective is included in the content of : - Spain in the Modern Age. XVI and XVII centuries. The reign of the House of Austria.(BOCM) After having shown our students this comic, one possibility is that at the end of the unit our students can make the same comic with the information they remember. Here is the comic we have created. I think it is really

Time Travel: Prehistory

Time Travel: Prehistory Good afternoon, everyone. We have started this week to study the history part of Social Sciences. History is one of the most difficult things for our students because they have to memorise a lot of dates, names, places...  That is the reason why I have created a new project in which our students feel involved and motivated.  I have created a radio programme. In it, they are presented with the situation that a secret button has been discovered in their school, and if they press it they will travel back in time. As this is going to be about prehistory, we will divide the class into three groups, and each group will be given one of the three periods of Prehistory. Students will have to carry out a series of activities to finally achieve the final objective, the recording of a podcast. Below you will find the guide I have prepared to be able to implement it in the classroom.      I am also enclosing the first programme which is the one I have prepared to captur

What do animals eat?

What do animals eat? Good afternoon colleagues! How is everything? I´m back after Easter holidays.  This has been a very fantastic week dealing with... ANIMALS. I´m teaching it in 2nd grade.  They love this subject, but it is true that they tend to go a bit crazy trying to talk about their experiences with animals. This week we have been dealing with the subject of what animals eat, which in my view is one of the most "boring" parts regarding to  animals as it does not have too much content. I've been mulling over the idea of how I could teach it in an engaging way. This time I have used Genially as a resource. Genially is a website that allows us to make amazing and eye-catching presentations that will capture the attention of our students. Usually, we tend to use the typical Power Point or Prezi presentation, which is a bit outdated. Thinks I liked from Genially... Genially is very simple to use, with all the steps indicated. With this app you have access to hundreds

Mindmaps

Mindmaps Welcome again!!!! Here I bring you the last post before Easter holidays!  These last few days we have been dealing with the topic of weather and climate in Social Sciences. Children love it, but what I have realised is that they get very confused between the two terms and their elements. This week I have been mulling over the idea about what resource I can use to help my students understand the differences and I think I have found the solution. I have thought about the idea of introducing mindmaps. A mindmap is  a diagram in which information is represented visually, usually with a central idea placed in the middle and associated ideas arranged around it.  If we introduce its use in the classroom, we will be able to make our students able to organise the knowledge learnt in any subject.  The mindmaps could be done by hand in the students' notebooks, but what about being able to do them on the computer with thousands of resources to add such as images, colours, etc. In the

Infographics in the classroom

USING INFOGRAPHICS  Hi there!! Welcome to a new post. Today I would like to tell you a bit about infographics. Infographics is the visual representation of information, which in this case will make our students understand the contents much better. To achieve the objective that our students understand something better with its use, we will have to take into account that our infographics must have a balance of colours, be visually attractive, and have legible text. Nowadays there are a large number of applications that we can use to create our infographics. Some examples are the following: Easel.ly, Piktochart, Canva, Smore, Tackk, Mural.ly, Padlet. In my case I have used Canva. I consider it to be one of the best apps we have today. It's a very intuitive application for people who don't understand much about ICTs. In addition, it provides us with millions of editable templates.  To create this infographic I used one of the infographic templates and edited it to create the info
