Mindmaps Welcome again!!!! Here I bring you the last post before Easter holidays!  These last few days we have been dealing with the topic of weather and climate in Social Sciences. Children love it, but what I have realised is that they get very confused between the two terms and their elements. This week I have been mulling over the idea about what resource I can use to help my students understand the differences and I think I have found the solution. I have thought about the idea of introducing mindmaps. A mindmap is  a diagram in which information is represented visually, usually with a central idea placed in the middle and associated ideas arranged around it.  If we introduce its use in the classroom, we will be able to make our students able to organise the knowledge learnt in any subject.  The mindmaps could be done by hand in the students' notebooks, but what about being able to do them on the computer with thousands of resources to add such as images, colours, etc. In the

USING INFOGRAPHICS  Hi there!! Welcome to a new post. Today I would like to tell you a bit about infographics. Infographics is the visual representation of information, which in this case will make our students understand the contents much better. To achieve the objective that our students understand something better with its use, we will have to take into account that our infographics must have a balance of colours, be visually attractive, and have legible text. Nowadays there are a large number of applications that we can use to create our infographics. Some examples are the following: Easel.ly, Piktochart, Canva, Smore, Tackk, Mural.ly, Padlet. In my case I have used Canva. I consider it to be one of the best apps we have today. It's a very intuitive application for people who don't understand much about ICTs. In addition, it provides us with millions of editable templates.  To create this infographic I used one of the infographic templates and edited it to create the info

Creating comics

Creating comics Hi there!!! Here´s a new post. Have you ever thought about making comics for your classroom and didn't know how? Today I bring you the solution. I have discovered that there are several websites that allow you to do this. Some of these are: Pixton, Creaza, StoryboardThat. I have been exploring some of the apps. I have to say that some of them require a fee, others are not very visual... that's why I used StoryboardThat. As I've told you before, the use of technology is not my thing, so I try to use easy apps.  What I liked the most about this app is the amount of backgrounds available to make your comics much more real, you can also change all the colours... If I have to highlight something that I didn't like it was the few expressions that you can change to the characters. In this case I have created a comic for our "Values" subject because next term two new children will be coming to our school.  In this way we can show the other pupils ho

Content curation tools are those ones that can help us when looking for resources. Maybe some of them sound familiar to you such as Pinterest where you can create folders to keep your "pins" (links you liked), an others not really known like "Symbaloo", "Pearltrees", and "List.ly". This time I´ve choosen Pinterest. I found it as a very intuitive tool to use in order to store materials for my classes. I would like to show you the materials I´ve selected to carry out a class related with vertebrate´s animals.  On the right you can find a pinterest widget with the choosen materials. 1st Activity. Peek a Boo video. In order to introduce the topic, we would watch the whole video and ask questions to know what they have understood. We would watch it aga
